While inspecting the site of a deadly standoff with gunmen Algerian security forces find the bodies of 25 hostages.

Algerian security forces have found the bodies of 25 hostages on Sunday as they combed a desert gas plant after the deadly stand-off at a gas plant in the heart of the Saraha.

Citing security sources, Anis Rahmani of private television channel Ennahar told AFP the army discovered “the bodies of 25 hostages” as they secured the sprawling In Amenas Sahara site.

Governments have been scrambling to track down missing nationals after the bloody end to the siege that saw rebels kill 23 foreign and Algerian hostages, while the Algerian government warned that the toll could rise.
